Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and dependable individual to become part of our family-operated farm. This position includes practical, day-to-day involvement in both crop production and livestock care.
The successful candidate should be comfortable with physically demanding tasks and enjoy working outside throughout changing weather conditions. Prior experience in either operating agricultural equipment or working with cattle is essential.
Additional skills such as welding or holding a Class 1A license would be beneficial, though they are not mandatory for this role.
🚜 Role Blueprint: Agricultural Operator & Stockman
This position functions as the “gears and grease” of a high-end ranch. It isn’t just about manual tasks; it’s about maintaining the rhythm of a living business.
I. The Tactical Requirements (Hard Skills)
- Precision Driving: Beyond simple steering, you’ll be orchestrating heavy machinery like silage wagons and processors. This is a technical skill involving calibration and fluid movement to ensure livestock are fed accurately.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting: While listed as “preferred,” the ability to diagnose a hydraulic leak or a belt issue in the field is your greatest leverage for a higher wage.
- Infrastructure Stewardship: You are the guardian of the farm’s physical boundaries. This involves the constant renewal of fencing and the organization of the yard to prevent accidents and optimize workflow.
II. The Biological Component (Animal Care)
Working with a purebred herd changes the stakes. You aren’t just a laborer; you are a secondary set of eyes for the owners.
- Vigilance: Monitoring health means identifying subtle behavioral shifts in the cattle.
- Consistency: Running the bale processor isn’t just a chore; it’s a nutritional delivery system that requires timing and attention to detail to ensure herd productivity.
III. The Cultural Landscape
The “progressive” and “owner-operator” labels tell a specific story about the workplace:
- Flat Hierarchy: You will be mentored directly by the stakeholders. There is no corporate buffer; your reputation is built on daily performance and clear communication.
- Dynamic Pace: Agriculture is dictated by the seasons. The “willingness to learn” and “all-weather” clauses indicate that your duties will shift rapidly depending on the needs of the farm and the climate.
Comparative Advantage Analysis
| Factor | What it implies |
| “Know you by name” | High accountability but high recognition. You are a person, not a line item. |
| $24 – $35 Wage | A wide bracket that rewards those who bring specialized mechanical or cattle-handling expertise. |
| Purebred Focus | A professionalized environment where quality and “look” of the operation matter as much as volume. |
| Physicality | A demand for high stamina and the ability to work independently in the elements. |
